At Aqua-Tots Swim Schools, we talk a lot about swim lessons, so it comes as no surprise that we want all children to learn how to swim. And when we have the opportunity to join forces with other leaders in the water safety industry, well, we know we’re in good company.
That’s why we’re excited to announce that Aqua-Tots Swim Schools locations nationwide, along with Leslie’s Pool Supplies, will be working with Swimways and the Make a Splash program, a national child-focused water safety campaign created by the USA Swimming Foundation, to provide child-focused water safety education as well as the opportunity for every child in America to learn to swim. The reality is that participation in formal swim lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by 88 percent, and this serves as a driving force behind our passion to keep children safe in and around the water.
To kick off this initiative, the partners joined up at Aqua-Tots Swim Schools with the Paw Patrol pups as well as two-time Olympic medalist, Jessica Hardy, on Saturday, May 18, International Learn to Swim Day. The purpose of this day was to raise awareness about the importance of learning to swim.
“I was introduced to water when I fell in the pool at three years old during a birthday party,” recalls Jessica. “I didn’t know how to swim, and someone had to rescue me. My mom put me in swim lessons immediately after that, because drowning can happen in under 30 seconds, and it’s silent. Now my life’s goal as the mom of a one-year-old who swims is to get as many kids in the water as we can every day.”
Make a Splash has a current goal to reach 1 million children annually through their Local Partner swim lesson provider network…like Aqua-Tots! To enroll a child in swim lessons and empower them with the live-saving skill of learning to swim, stop by your local Aqua-Tots Swim Schools location.
