What Aqua-Tots is Doing to Remain Safe and Healthy

Your family’s health and safety are our number one priority. The world has changed in recent months, but water safety remains as important as ever. “Participation in formal swim lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by 88% among children 1-4 years old,” according to the National Institutes of Health, and resuming swim lessons is one of the most beneficial ways you can keep your children safer in and around the water.

Our Aqua-Tots leadership team has been reviewing all activities that take place throughout our facility as well as seeking the guidance of the US Swim School Association, local government officials and the CDC. Together, we have developed the Aqua-Tots Full Circle of Safety which focuses on a modified swim school environment for the health of our families and staff, safety of our swim lessons and cleanliness of our facility.

As we work to stop the spread of COVID-19, here are the modifications you will notice in our school:

  • Recommending families to limit in-school attendance to one parent/guardian and the swim student only if possible
  • Asking families to arrive dressed and ready for swim lesson (weather permitting)
  • Asking families to arrive only five minutes prior to the beginning of their scheduled class time in order to control the flow and number of people in the facility
  • Limiting the number of people in the lobby and pool area
  • Facemasks required throughout our lobby for anyone age 2 or older
  • Daily wellness checks for all staff
  • Temperature checks for customers and staff (as required by the state of Illinois)
  • Face masks for front desk staff
  • Face masks/face shields for swim instructors during lessons
  • Curriculum adjustments to reduce face contact during swim lessons
  • Enhanced school-wide sanitation procedures throughout the day
  • Hand sanitizing stations for continuous use
  • Increased pool chemistry checks throughout the day
  • Sanitation of all pool toys used in our lessons between each class
  • Tables and chairs adjusted to meet social distancing guidelines
  • Play area temporarily closed
  • Swimsuit dryers, hairdryers, and hand dryers temporarily unavailable
  • Showers, shampoo, wipes, lotion, etc. temporarily unavailable
  • Retail items available behind the front desk

Additionally, it’s important to note that a properly maintained and sanitized pool is still considered a safe environment for children and families. The Aqua-Tots pools have always contained commercial sanitation and filtration systems which maintain the proper chlorinated levels.

There is no evidence that the virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread to people through the water in pools, hot tubs, spas, or water play areas. Proper operation and maintenance (including disinfection with chlorine and bromine) of these facilities should inactivate the virus in the water.CDC (2020), Water and COVID-19 FAQs

We’re excited to welcome your family back to the pool and look forward to developing safe and confident swimmers once again. We appreciate your continued support and trust in Aqua-Tots and thank you for being a valuable part of our family.
