Aqua-Tots Stresses Importance of Lifesaving Swim Skills During National Water Safety Month

World’s largest swim school franchise highlights water awareness and swim safety – especially for children – throughout May

PHOENIX (April 27, 2022) – May marks National Water Safety Month and Aqua-Tots Swim Schools is saving lives one child at a time with its proven swim-safety curriculum worldwide.

Since 1991, Aqua-Tots has been creating safe and confident swimmers, giving children the gift of safe water adventures and parents peace of mind. According to the CDC, drowning takes the life of nearly 1,000 children every year and is the single leading cause of injury-related death among children ages one to four.

Swim lessons are one of the four essential layers of protection in water safety, and by enrolling your child in swim lessons at Aqua-Tots, drowning is preventable. The National Institutes of Health states that participation in formal swim lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by 88% in children one through four. With the warmer months quickly approaching, many children will soon be attending pool parties and water parks, so now’s the time to learn these lifesaving skills during National Water Safety Month.

Aqua-Tots around the globe are dedicated to educating communities to be safe in and around water, and during the month of May, participating locations will hold a Swim with Your Clothes On Event where students will perform their lessons while wearing their everyday clothes and shoes. In these 30-minute classes, students have the opportunity to experience what swimming with their clothes on would feel like if ever faced with an emergency, while learning about the importance of water safety and how to assist others that are in danger. Additionally, many local Aqua-Tots Swim Schools will be offering special group packages and/or discounts in May, so visit aqua-tots.com, or your nearest location for details.

“At Aqua-Tots, our mission is to help prevent drownings by teaching children and adults water safety through consistent swim instruction in every class, every day,” said Craig Wright, CEO of Aqua-Tots Swim Schools. “Water safety isn’t a seasonal issue, but this May, we will be shining extra light on the invaluable life skills that swim lessons provide. It’s never too early or late to learn proper water safety, so we encourage everyone to get the necessary training – from Aqua-Tots or elsewhere – to make sure every water adventure is a safe one.”

The Aqua-Tots Swim Journey is comprised of eight levels of comprehensive curriculum that is tried, true and trusted all over the world. Each level is designed to build upon the next, taking each child on a journey toward becoming a safe and confident swimmer for life. Aqua-Tots offers swim lessons for kids as young as four months all the way through 12 years old. Children can participate in private lessons or small group classes to help ensure a safe environment for proper swim instruction.
