Thankfulness abounds in November, and at Aqua-Tots Swim Schools, that sentiment (like swim lessons…wink, wink) is year-round! So in honor of the season of gratitude, we’d like to share with you why we are thankful for swim lessons…for your children as well as for our own.
1. Commitment, Courage & Confidence
We are thankful for the three C’s: Commitment, courage and confidence! Swim lessons are a valuable commitment for parents and children alike. Follow-through, routine, practice and completion of any program are life lessons children will carry into adulthood. Additionally, watching children who are apprehensive around the water discover courage and develop confidence are traits that we celebrate! A child who is confident in their abilities, while maintaining safety, puts a smile on everyone’s face.
Character traits are something we see value in today and will continue to be thankful for tomorrow. Olympic gold medal swimmer Michael Phelps said it best, “When I feel tired, I just think about how great I will feel once I finally reach my goal.” The progression of swim lessons takes perseverance and offers valuable lessons in setting goals and achieving them.
3. Benefits to the Body and Brain
A healthy body and mind are both things to be grateful for! Swimming utilizes multiple major muscle groups including the arms, legs, torso and stomach. It also “increases the heart rate without putting stress on the body, improves strength and tones muscles,” according to Medical News Today. But swimming doesn’t stop there! “Swimming for just 30 minutes, three times a week, can lower stress levels, improve mood, lower incidences of depression and anxiety, and improve sleep patterns,” says Swimming.org. It is also an excellent aide for children with ADHD.
People are the reason we do what we do, and friendships are one of the things we’re most grateful for. Whether friends made in group lessons, the family viewing area or with the swim instructors themselves, we consider every family to be a part of the Aqua-Tots family from the moment they walk through the door.
5. Bonding Time
“Enjoy them while they’re little. They grow so quickly.” We’ve all heard it, but hindsight is 20/20. Taking the time to bond with baby in the water through Parent & Tot classes is a memory every parent, grandparent or caretaker will cherish for a lifetime, and cherished memories hold BIG thankful spots!
6. Super Sleep
And every parent said, “YES! THANK YOU!” Few things rank on a parent’s thankful meter like a good night’s sleep. Thank you, active swim lessons, for tuckering out the tots!
7. Year-Round, Life-Saving Activity
We’re not sure which aspect is more gratitude-worthy…the year-round part or the life-saving part…so we married them. Giving children a year-round platform to get their wiggles out (and avoid cabin fever) while providing them an opportunity to progress through every life-saving swimming level goes beyond a win-win. It is something we will be thankful for for a lifetime. Quite literally.
At Aqua-Tots Swim Schools, we desire that every family sees the value of year-round swim lessons as early as 4 months old. To learn more about Aqua-Tots Swim Schools and to enroll your child, visit www.aqua-tots.com.
